I’ve been involved in the film industry since my early teens, working first as an actress and then in production, distribution and international sales. I directed my first film at the age of 31, a faith-based hybrid documentary called “Let The Lion Roar” which starred Oscar nominated Eric Roberts, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Sorbo, and Grammy nominated singers Jaci Velasquez, Tim Rushlow and Jamie Grace. The film was an indie distribution success, with sales in 52 nations.
When I realized that film directing was the path I wanted to commit to I threw myself into honing my craft. I consumed teaching for hours every day. But what I soon found was that there was a lack of interviews with filmmakers. There just weren’t that many interviews available that asked filmmakers questions I wanted answered – how they’d overcome failure, how they’d found their hustle, what they considered to be most important to their success. Sure, there were some great interviews to be found around award season time, but for someone like myself who was consuming content every single day, these interviews were too few and far between. I wanted to be learning from the greats five days a week!
So I decided to develop Film Talk as a platform where myself, and thousands like me, could learn from the brightest minds in filmmaking on an ongoing basis.
I post notes from every show, which will include links and references to everything of importance mentioned during the interview. So don’t worry if you heard a film recommendation or a resource during an episode and don’t quite remember what it was. You can find all of that linked up in the show notes for quick and easy access.
If you like what you’re hearing on Film Talk, I would be very appreciative of your
rating and review in iTunes , which will allow the show to reach an even greater audience.
